Where do you sit at a movie theater? Some of you like to be in the middle, some of your prefer the front, and some of you like the back. However, if your seat is taken, do you go sit directly next to the person who's in "your" seat? Probably not. You likely go sit a few seats away from them, so you can have your space.
At Nature Coast, we're all about creating space for more people to experience Christ's love each Sunday just like we do. Every Sunday, someone is walking into our church with a gaping hole in their heart, wanting to give God "one last shot." We want to be able to have space for that person here, at our church.
We've come to realize that we're getting quite full at Nature Coast and we need more room! I'm excited to announce that, starting on August 11, we will be transitioning into two different worship service times on Sunday, 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM. Well, now what? What does that look like? What changes? What stays the same?
Logistically, everyone will be changing service times because there is no more 10:00AM service, just 9:00AM and 11:00AM. The worship services will be very similar! There is not going to be a traditional and contemporary service; the music will be the same. Additionally, nursery, compass, and anchor student ministry will only be available in the 11:00AM service. We love what God is doing in our worship gatherings. We love our music, liturgy, and the life changing message of Jesus + Nothing = Everything!
Since bringing up this change back at our Gala in March, several people have come to me with concerns that adding another service will divide us as a congregational family. However, I want to say that I actually believe that the addition of a service could bring us closer. There will be several church wide functions that are aimed at bringing our congregation together!
In addition, we are going to be starting Operation: Life Groups. The primary purpose of Sunday morning services is to share the Good News: The Love of Jesus and the message of Jesus + Nothing = Everything. Fellowship and community are a great added bonus to our Sunday service, but we believe that deeper and more meaningful relationships can be formed in our Life Groups. As part of our two service initiative, we will be creating a variety of Life Groups. As these details are made available, we encourage that you take advantage of these opportunities. Life Groups are where church becomes family and we will be making our best effort to be be creating more and varied opportunities for that to happen. In the end, location is not what makes us family (several of us don't even know our neighbors), it is our Savior and sharing of His love and that will never change.
This is a season of change. I don't particularly enjoy change and, given my personality, two services pushes me out of my comfort zone. No doubt some of you will be uncomfortable and fearful of this decision. However, Christ has taught me in my years here at Nature Coast that fear is a liar; we are not called to comfort, but rather, to Christ. We are called to walk by faith and not by sight. Our passion is Christ and not our comfort.
Any time there is change, the enemy will try to use that to cause division, anxiety, and fear in the body of Christ. Please pray that this would not happen. Pray that God would continue to use Nature Coast to share the never-ending, never failing love of Christ along the Nature Coast. It is time to celebrate that there will be two worship gatherings where we can come to know and love Jesus.
So grateful for you all. I love you! - Brad
